SENIORS:
- DELTA TAU DELTA FRATERNITY SCHOLARSHIP is a scholarship open to any senior who feels they exemplify the qualities of scholarship, leadership, community service and athletics. The scholarship applies to universities across the country but in Missouri the qualifying schools are the University of Missouri-Columbia and Rolla. The application deadline is June 1. - CHERRY HILL DENTAL PROGRAM OF DENTAL ASSISTING is a ten week program which meets on Saturdays. The program is certified to operate by the Missouri Department of Higher Education. When students complete the program they will be well prepared to begin a career in the field of DENTAL ASSISTING. The next session begins in June. - AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP is a scholarship open to all Senior girls who plan to attend a 4 year college or university. The application deadline is May 9. See your counselor for the application.
JUNIORS AND SENIORS:
- STATE FAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE at the Lake of the Ozarks offers Associate of Arts Degrees in: MARKETING, OFFICE MANAGEMENT, MANAGEMENT, REAL ESTATE, CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT, BUILDING MATERIALS MANAGEMENT, CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY, etc. For more information on this college and their programs, go to: www.sfccmo.edu/lake or call 573-348-0888.
- MOUNT MERCY COLLEGE in Cedar Rapids,Iowa offers a $1000 scholarship to students graduating from Catholic high schools. Mount Mercy offers 35 majors and 13 varsity sports. Mount Mercy is a vibrant co-educational Catholic institution of 1500 students. For more information, go to: www.mtmercy.edu

- NUCLEAR ENGINEERING SUMMER CAMP is offered at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (UMR) the week of July 13 and the week of July 20. The registration fee is $500 which includes room and board and materials. This camp is especially designed for students who are considering a career in nuclear engineering. - ACES PROGRAM was developed by the Missouri Area HEALTH EDUCATION CENTERS as a comprehensive CAREER PLANNING and ASSISTANCE PROGRAM for students interested in pursuing a HEALTH CAREER in primary care and working in an underserved area of Missouri. Students selected will receive guidance and assistance with academic and career goals, opportunities to shadow current healthcare professionals, exploration workshops that focus on health and science, academic enrichment and information on selecting and applying to colleges and health professions programs. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a strong interest in Primary Care. Primary Care includes: physicians in family medicine, internal medicine and general pediatrics; general practice dentists and dental hygienists and nursing. - AUDREY WALTON YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE provides opportunities for Missouri Youth to gain skills that will assist them in becoming leaders in their communities and schools. Participants will participate in both indoor and outdoor team activities. CONFERENCE DATES are July 17-July 19 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. THERE IS NO COST to participants. JUNIORS:
- JOHNSON AND WALES UNIVERSITY EARLY ENROLMENT PROGRAM allows students who will be high school seniors in the fall of 2008 to simultaneously complete their high school requirements while earning college credit at Johnson and Wales University. - THE UNIVERSITY OF TULSA summer residential camps in SCREENWRITING AND FILMMAKING. The fee for each camp is $750. Only ten students will be accepted for each camp. - ALL SERVICE ACADEMY DAY INFORMATION PROGRAM is scheduled for Sunday, May 4 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. at the Edward Jones, National Headquarters, 12555 Manchester Road, St. Louis. This is an informational meeting for high school students and parents who are considering the ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE, COAST GUARD AND MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMIES. - THE MISSOURI UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY offers a variety of summer enrichment programs, camps and other activities for students from first through twelfth grades. - DUKE UNIVERSITY in North Carolina has shared the following news concerning FINANCIAL AID. Parents whose incomes total $60,000 or less no longer have to contribute financially to their child’s education. For families with incomes of $40,000 or less, they have eliminated student loans, and reduced them for families with incomes up to $100,000. All of the MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS now provide full tuition, room, board, and fees, a value of almost $50,000 a year. For more details, contact Duke University at: 919-684-3214.
- NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY offers intensive hands on programs in filmmaking, acting for film, screenwriting, and animation for high school students. - JEFFERSON CITY EAGLES SCHOLARSHIP is a $1000 scholarship open to any senior who plans to attend a 2 or 4 year college or tech school. The application deadline is April 25. See your counselor for the application.
- MISSOURI BRIGHT FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIP requires an ACT score of 31 or above. IN ADDITION, a mailing indicates that if you believe you qualify for the Bright Flight but HAVE NOT received an approval letter by mid-September 2008, you must contact the Missouri Department of Higher Education at 1-800-473-6757, option 4. By contacting MDHE, you will make sure that your necessary information has been filed.
- JEFFERSON CITY ASSOCIATION OF EDUCATION OFFICE PERSONNEL SCHOLARSHIP is open to any graduating senior. The application deadline is April 11. See your counselor for the application.
- COLE COUNTY FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP is a scholarship open to seniors who plan to study in the field of AGRICULTURE or a related profession necessary to the rural community such as BUSINESS EDUCATION, MEDICINE, JOURNALISM, ETC. - CALLAWAY NUCLEAR PLANT’S WOMEN IN NUCLEAR CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP is a scholarship for a senior who plans to pursue a career in ELECTRICAL, GAS OR NUCLEAR POWER INCLUDING ENGINEERING PROGRAMS IN ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL, CIVIL, NUCLEAR, COMPUTER SCIENCE OR ADMINISTRATIVE PROGRAM IN BUSINESS. The Application deadline is April 11. See your counselor for the application.
- FIREFIGHTERS SCHOLARSHIP is a $500 scholarship available to a graduating Helias senior who plans to pursue a career in firefighting, law enforcement, or a health related or safety field. The application deadline is April 25. See your counselor for the application.
- THE FOLLOWING SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE BY COMPLETING ONE APPLICATION. THE APPLICATION deadline for this group of scholarships will be April 25. See your counselor for the application. The following are offered:
-A.J. SCHWARTZE SCHOLARSHIPS are available first to graduating Seniors from Osage County in the top 1/3 of their senior class. If all scholarships are not awarded among the top 1/3, then seniors from Osage County in the top ½ will be considered. If Osage County residents do not use all the scholarships available, then any senior in the top 1/3 of the class will be considered. The scholarship must be used to attend a school in the State of Missouri. The scholarship is renewable if a GPA of 2.5 is maintained. The scholarship amount varies from year to year but traditionally has been around $2000 per year.
-THE JOSEPH MAYER SCHOLARSHIPS are available to graduating seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.0. The scholarship considers grade point average, personal character, educational ambition, talent, aptitude test scores and economic need. Multiple scholarships are given. The scholarship can be used at any college or technical school of students’ choice. The scholarship is renewable if a GPA of 2.0 is maintained. The scholarship amount varies from year to year but traditionally has been around $1500 per year.
-KWOS SPORTSCASTERS SCHOLARSHIP is open to a graduating senior who has a good academic record and has lettered in at least one sport. This scholarship is worth $500 and is not renewable. The scholarship can be used at the school of recipient’s choice.
-BRUNING/STAMPFLI SCHOLARSHIP is a $1000 scholarship which is available to a graduating senior in the top 25% of their class. Consideration is given to character, financial need and participation in activities. This scholarship is not renewable.
-THE DONALD AND VIRGINIA CAMPBELL SCHOLARSHIP is a $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior who plans to major in BUSINESS OR FINANCE.
-THE BILL QUIGG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is a $1000 award which is offered to any graduating senior in the top ½ of the class. This scholarship can be used at any university or technical school of your choice.
JUNIORS AND SENIORS:
- THE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY CENTER OPEN HOUSE in Mexico, Missouri is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, from 12:00-4:00 p.m. The Open House will include Student Demonstrations, Tours and Refreshments. FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS:
- MISSOURI BUSINESS WEEK, June 29-July 3, will give you a chance to experience life on a University campus, make friends with high school students from across Missouri and LOOK AHEAD TO COLLEGE AND CAREER. You’ll discover team building, ethics, leadership and your own special qualities. You’ll be a part of a student company that will compete in a variety of challenges: the production of television commercials, web site designs and more. 200 students will attend and will be awarded $500 sponsorships—WHICH MEANS THE PROGRAM IS FREE TO THOSE WHO ATTEND. The application deadline is April 18. Applications can be picked up from your counselor or you can go online at: www.missouribusinessweek.com You must have a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average to apply. The event is held on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
FRESHMEN:
1. LEADERSHIP IN PRACTICE , June 25-27, at Stephens College-Columbia, Missouri is designed to provide young high school students the opportunity to learn the characteristics of good leadership and apply them through realistic activities and simulations. Enrollment is limited to 175 students. The fee for this program is $175 which covers all costs—some scholarships are available. See your counselor for the application. ALL STUDENTS:
- MIZZOU ENGINEERING SUMMER CAMP is a weeklong camp that allows you to see how your math and science talents can pave the way for a rewarding career. The camps run July 6-11, July 13-18 or July 20-25. Some scholarships are available for students of African American, American Indian and Hispanic descent. - CORNELL UNIVERSITY in Ithaca, New York, has established a new FINANCIAL AID INCENTIVE, to eliminate need-based loans for all undergraduate students from families with incomes under $75,000, making it possible for new students to graduate debt-free. - POMONA COLLEGE in Claremont, California has announced that they will ELIMINATE LOANS IN FINANCIAL AID PACKAGES and replace those amounts with scholarships, effective 2008-09. “The elimination of loans from financial aid packages is another step in Pomona’s concerted efforts to ensure that a Pomona College education remains accessible to and supportive of all qualifed students.” Check them out online.
- THE FASHION INSTITUTE OF DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING of Los Angeles, California offers a variety of summer programs for students interested in Fashion, Merchandising, and Marketing. - U.S. WOMEN IN NUCLEAR is offering a $500 scholarship to an applicant interested in a field applicable to the needs of nuclear or other power related industries. An essay is required: My Career in the Energy Field. The application deadline is April 4. See your counselor for the application.
- BUCK FEVER CHAPTER OF WHITETAILS UNLIMITED SCHOLARSHIP is a $500 scholarship awarded to students interested in the conservation, habitat and successful future of white tailed deer in Missouri. - JEFFERSON CITY BREAKFAST ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP is a $1000 scholarship open to any graduating senior who plans to attend college or tech school in the state of Missouri. The application deadline is March 28. See your counselor for the application.

- ROBERT E. COOK HONORS COLLEGE 2008 SUMMER HONORS PROGRAM offers students a serious academic challenge in a college setting. Areas taught are: Journalism, Law, Leadership, Music, Physics, Web Design, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Film, Finance and Forensics. The program runs from July 13-26 at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. If interested, students must be nominated by the counseling office. The deadline to apply is April 1. - ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE INSTITUTE AT K-STATE is scheduled for May 26-30. 1. EARLHAM EXPLORE A COLLEGE is a college level summer program for high school students currently in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades June 22-July 5. At Earlham Explore you take a two week class taught by an Earlham professor and develop college-level study and research skills that you will be able to apply to future classes and careers. COURSES COVER AREAS SUCH AS: ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, MORALITY, WRITING, LANGUAGES, JAPANESE, SCIENCES, SOCIAL SCIENCES, PEACE STUDIES. Application deadline is May 23.
