Concert Choir Auditions ·         May 4, 5, and 6 ·         3:10 – 4:30 PM ·         Helias Music Room ·         Students coming from other schools should arrive as soon as possible after dismissal. ·         Current Helias students involved in a spring sport should see Mr. Veile as soon as possible. ·         Students should know the melody for the Star-Spangled Banner. ·         During auditions we will work on melody and SATB Star-Spangled Banner (SSB), an additional choral piece, and music theory. ·         The audition will consist of the above music, individual voice testing, solo and SSB, and work ethic during workshops. ·         Between students of the same voice part, the better singer will make Concert Choir. In the case of a tie, the returning student or older student generally wins.   Color Guard Auditions ·         May 7-8 and 11-12 (12th as needed) ·         3:10-4:30 PM ·         Helias Music Room ·         Students coming from other schools should arrive as soon as possible after dismissal. ·         Current Helias students involved in a spring sport should see Mr. Veile as soon as possible. ·         Students do not need to prepare anything in advance ·         Students should wear comfortable clothing with tennis shoes. ·         Please do not wear sandals! ·         Students will learn basic flag and marching technique ·         Summer Dates: o   Wednesday evenings 6-8 PM starting June 3. We will take off at least one week, probably June 10 and/or July 1. Students can be excused from some weeks due to family vacation, camps, etc. o   Band Camp: July 27-31 and August 3-7. Week 1 7:00-3:00 with 1 hour for lunch. Week 2 7:00-3:00 or 4:00 (TBD) with 1 hour for lunch. Camp is mandatory for all students. o   Evening rehearsal August 10 and 12 (Time TBD)   Show Choir Auditions ·         Dates TBD, probably May 15th and 18th. ·         Show Choir camp tentatively scheduled for August 10-14, tentatively 9-3.   Come join the auditions for the 2009-2010 Helias Concert Choir and Helias Color Guard Concert Choir When and Where: May 4-6 in the Helias Music Room from 3:10-4:30 PM What to prepare: The melody for the Star-Spangled Banner Why?: Concert Choir is the top performing vocal ensemble at Helias. Choir sings a variety of music, from religious music to current musicals. You can also learn more about our new show choir! Color Guard When and Where: May 7-8, 11, and 12 (if needed) in the Helias Music Room from 3:10-4:30 What to prepare: Nothing. What to wear: Comfortable clothes and tennis shoes (no sandals – you’ll know why the first time you drop a flag or rifle on your toes!)
