I Admire by Connor
Why do I admire Alex? This question frequently comes up, but it is a fairly complex answer because of all the reasons. Some reasons many will not understand. Hopefully after reading this you will admire her more than before you read this, so listen up.
Admiring Alex is a very simple thing to do; I admire her because she is a good friend. She would literally do anything for you. Not to mention she is very fun to hang out with also. We have had a lot of good times together.
I admire her for usually being down for anything, like one day I called her up and said “lets go to six flags today.” The next thing you know we were on Highway 50 headed for six flags. We had fun at six flags, and then on the way back we ended up getting lost ending up in Washington, Missouri. It was still a lot of fun though because we had to ask for directions and make a road trip through Hermann.
Another reason I admire Alex is because we have this little ritual thing. Every time we go anywhere we always stop by sonic and she buys me an apple cherry slushy, Route 44, I might add. I admire Alex for being such a good friend, but I also admire her for being a good sister to her sister Sam. Alex is a great person and anyone would be lucky to be her friend…

The person that I look up to/ admire the most is my friend Skyler. The reason that I admire Skyler so much is because he always makes the best of every situation, whether it is good or bad. Skyler is usually always in a good mood. He always tries to help someone that he cares about no matter what they have done. Skyler doesn’t care what a lot of people think about him because he says he knows who his true fiends are.
When Skyler and I hang out, we always find something fun and dangerous to do. One time when Skyler spent the night at my house, we took my lawn mowers five miles down the road at 2:30 in the morning. It was one of the best nights of my life.
Skyler isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty or to stand up for someone he cares about. He is the best friend that I could ever ask for. I am such a lucky person to have him in my life. He always helps me out when I am down. He is a really amazing person.

The person I admire is someone that always is there when I need something. We got in a six month fight recently, and we just made up right before school started. It’s always so hard when we get in fights because we have always been inseparable. Every weekend we always would either go to my house to spend the night or her house and we always have the best times! We have so many inside jokes that I couldn’t even list every one of them.
I really admire Alex because she’s always truly been my best friend whether we were in a fight or not. We always have our ups and downs, but that’s what best friends do. We have been best friends all through grade school. We would always get in trouble because we would always laugh at the dumbest things, and we would never get to sit by each other because of that. She’s really an amazing person because of the way she makes me laugh and every single time we do get in a fight we end up back together again.
I love Alex as a sister and a best friend. Her house is my second home, and her family is my second family. I could not ask for a better best friend. No one can ever take her place because she is truly and always will be in my heart. I can always trust her with my deepest darkest secrets. I am closest to her more than anyone else I know besides my family. No matter who else it is, she is the best! I love you Alex!

When asked who I admire, so many names ran through my mind. Should I choose somebody famous like an actress or should I choose someone religious like a pope or a saint? Should I talk about the young men and woman who risk their lives every day to protect our country? I could write about firefighters, or policemen, or doctors. So many to choose from, how do I pick just one?
When it comes down to it, yes I do admire all of the people I listed above, but more than that I admire all of my friends. I don’t know what I would do without them all. I don’t have the most friends in the world, but the ones I do have are the greatest friends anyone could ask for.
Madi and I have been best friends for our whole lives. She dances five days a week and still finds time to do homework and hang out with her friends and family. She makes the best out of every situation, even when she has hit rock bottom. She doesn’t run away from her problems; she faces them head on with a smile on her face.
My friend Connor is probably one of my favorite people ever. He can make anybody laugh even when they are sad or in a bad mood. He makes me forget about all of the bad stuff that’s going on in my life and focus on the positive. He is so much fun to hang out with; we always have a god time.
These are just a few of the people I admire in my life. I always have them and know I can count on them no matter what. I don’t know what I would do without them.

Father Ed Schmidt, our pastor at St. Martins, is a holy man in a very common way. Fr. Ed tells stories of his life growing up in a home with a very loving mother and of his struggles as a child with school work and relates it to the gospels in a way that is easy to understand. He is a holy man but still human and tells how imperfect he can be even today after a long religious life.
I remember one story he told of how hard it was for him in school. He said he would study as hard as he felt he could and would still do poorly on tests and homework. He said he wondered how he could possibly be a priest if he couldn’t even get through college to become a priest. He said he would get frustrated and want to give up, but he always prayed to God and would lean on him and somehow he found the way to succeed. I wonder if my faith would be as important to me if Fr. Ed had given up and never become a priest. I wonder who we would have as a pastor and if I would enjoy mass as much with someone else leading our services.
Fr. Ed reminds us of the importance of having God in our lives and talking to God daily by ourselves and with our families. I have not been able to relate to a priest in the way that I have been able to relate to him. I also struggle with school work and have to remind myself how Father Ed got through, leaning on God and prayer. When I am about to give up, I hear God telling me that I should never give up. Fr. Ed always has a smile on his face; I try to remind myself to be happy like him.
A Person to Admire By: Scott
The person that I admire is a girl that isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes and never backs down. She is always there to help her friends overcome whatever problem that they might be facing, and never expects a “thank you”. She helps so much around the house when her brothers and sisters sit around and do nothing and watch her do all the work. I want to be like her someday; I want to be able to do work freely and be able to do it with a smile on my face like she does.
She is simply one amazing person that everyone in this room should get to know one day. She is able to go through everyday deal with high school drama, be able to go to sports practice and go home and being able to help her brothers and sisters with a smile on her face and have absolutely no problem with her tasks. And she does all of that and her homework, and she does great in school.
So many people should try to meet someone like her in their lifetime and try their best to be like her, not change their self but try to model their self around trying to help everyone without wanting a thank you or any kind of gratification. It is ok to go without having a thank you. Just knowing that you helped someone should be enough gratification in itself.
This person is my girlfriend. She means a great deal to me and she means an incredible amount to her friends. I’m glad I have met her and I have dedicated to do to her and my friends what she does to me and her friends. I want to make everyone as happy as I can but not do anything to hurt my self in the process of trying to be happy. She is herself and doesn’t let anyone change her, and she is incredibly happy. We should all try to be like her sometimes!

Some one I admire is Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln was the 16th president, and he is the leader of the free. He sought out to see a free and undivided America. Back to when brothers didn’t kill brothers, they helped one another and fought with one another. He was a great man that changed his time from a divided America to a united one. He is the one I admire because it was once said that Lincoln never told a lie and that is another reason a, president that never told a lie that is amazing.
He was the best president around; he was the leader of the free world, and he made choices that no other man was even thinking about. Lincoln was a great leader and had so many enemies, but he was still brave enough to go out and speak about the military victories over the south. His advisers told him not to but he was not afraid he spoke with confidence. Later when the Civil War was near the end, he was known as the leader of the free land. He not only changed the nation, but he made the government a lot stronger.
Later after the war was over and there was no more slavery Lincoln still had enemies he was not aware of. Later in his term, Lincoln was assassinated while watching a play. He was shot and killed, and the man that killed this great freedom figure was hanged by the Supreme Court Justice.

A person that I admire is Tony Melendez. He was born without arms. He has learned to adapt to modern society without arms. He has been told that he can not do certain things, but he has found a way to use his disability to inspire others to try harder. His entire life he has been teaching people that they can overcome obstacles. He has influenced many people in his lifetime.
Tony said that the one thing that his misses the most about not having arms is not being able to embrace people when they hug him. He has learned to throw a Frisbee and how to play the guitar with his feet. He has performed for many people including Pope John Paul 2. Through his kindness and caring for other he has change the lives of many people.
As a young kid I am sure that he was made fun of and people looked down on him. Many people told him that he could not do most of the thing that other people do everyday. He learned how to do things to the best of his ability. People today realize what he has gone through and how they can help others with disabilities.
The Ones I Admire By: Kaitlyn
There many people I admire, like my parents or friends. The three I admire the most are my grandparents on my mom’s and dad’s side of the family. The reason I say that I have three grandparents is because my Grandpa Richard on my dad’s side died one year before I was born, so I never knew him. He sounded like a nice man, and apparently my dad acts the same way Richard did. The reason I could not pick one was because I do not just have a favorite and I would not know which one to pick. I will be talking about my grandparents on my mom’s side, Ilene and Charlie, and My Grandma Mary on my dad’s side.
My grandma Mary Wideman died in 1997, but I remember her very well. She was a head strong woman and was a farm girl through and through. Every year my parents would take me to go and see her up in North Missouri and she would always make a big dinner and give me something she knitted or sewed. I admired her for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and the love she gave to everyone. I always wondered how she showed love for everyone and not to just to one person. She always sent me presents for my birthday and for Christmas. I will always remember her as a kind, sweet, loving grandma and she made really good pies.
Grandpa Charlie Mintion was also a very loving and kind person. He would not even hurt a fly, but he would kick grandma’s cat just to make me laugh. He would always give me anything I wanted from candy to toys, and he would always let me watch what I wanted to watch on TV. Grandma would always get after him for spoiling me. What I admired about him was that if I was sad and crying or mad and frustrated, he would always comfort me. That is why I will always love him even though he passed away in 2003.
Last but not least is Grandma Ilene. My grandma is still alive today. She was married to Grandpa Charlie. Grandma is kind and loving too, but she is stubborn like a mule. She has always been nice and loves to tell stories from when she was a kid to today. When she moved into her new house in Russellville, she has had trouble with her neighbors, so every time I talk to her she would always complain about them. My grandma is a very outgoing grandma that loves to play soccer and volleyball with me. She can speak her own mind and that is what I admire about her.
Grandparent are the best family you can have. I do not know what the world would do without grandparents. Some are supportive and loving like mine or could be mean like my dad’s grandparents. They make your life worthwhile.

A person that I admire is my mom; she has been there for me my whole life. My mom has been there for me through the good times and the bad. I respect her and appreciate everything she has done. She has spent many long hours helping me with school, when she had other things she had to do; she would just stay up later and still get up early for work. She is the one I admire because she always taught me never to give up.
She is by far the best mom in the world. She has set a good example for me, my brother, and my sisters. She would do anything for me, and no one will ever know how much I appreciate what she does. There have been times, when she has given money to the homeless given people who don’t have a lot of food and stuff a ride home so they don’t have to walk. Also, she has taught and spread the good news to me and many other people. Without her I would not know about God and I wouldn’t be going to church.
She is still setting good examples for me. One day, I hope to be as good of parent as she is day. When I have kids I hope to set as many good examples as she doesn’t and I also hope to be there for everyone just like she is. She has done a lot for me, and I hope to be there for someone like she been there for me because she very special to me.
