Sacred Day of Silence
By Ariel Doerhoff
On October 23rd students at Helias were able to participate in the Sacred Day of Silence. The students involved kept silent the entire day for those who never had a voice, which are the children who were killed by abortion. Students involved were represented by the red ribbon they wore on their arm.
Mrs. Bockwinkel-Baker brought the idea to the school administration who approved. Students were informed through the daily announcements. Approximately thirty students participated in the day of silence. According to Mrs. Bockwinkel-Baker, students have already requested information regarding signing up to participate next year.
Most of the students interviewed commented that they were glad that they participated. However, they were disappointed that their peers tempted them to talk about things outside the subject of abortion.
Overall the students interviewed reported they were grateful for the opportunity to participate in the event.
