Living Windows
By Ashley Schwarzer
Jefferson City’s annual “Living Windows” was held on November 30th. Although the ground wasn’t icy and covered with snow this year, the temperature was still quite chilly. Even with the biting wind, I am sure everybody enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
Everywhere you looked there were people peering into the windows that were displaying various activities. Some were listening to carolers, others watching dancers, and still others listening to instrumental Christmas music being played by local “musicians.”
A favorite destination, Central Bank, had carolers performing inside and also offered holiday treats of apple cider and cookies. Our very own Helias choir and jazz band performed at Exchange Bank, where little kids could also visit Santa.
As one walked the blocked off downtown streets, there were offers of hot chocolate and roasted nuts. The downtown restaurants were packed with hungry people trying to warm up and satisfy their appetites.
The event gave people the chance to get together to celebrate the start of the holidays. There was no doubt that the spirit and excitement of Christmas was present as friends and families gathered with each other for a fun-filled evening.
