As a new school year approached, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and teachers scrambled to get everything ready. Now that everything has settled down, students can focus on schoolwork and extracurricular activities. We can see students improving physically and mentally on and off the field.
In early August Coach Chuck Register held soccer tryouts. This year there are twelve seniors; the captains are goalie Jorden Bax, center mid-fielder Kevin Miller, and stopper Casey Baumhoer. They started their season by winning the “Blue and Gold” game six to zilch. Their record as of today is 6-1-1. They have lost only to Moberly but have won against Kirksville, Camdenton, Waynesville, and Rockbridge. On the weekend of September 12-13, the soccer team hosted the Helias Round Robin. They played only Waynesville and Rock Bridge because the other games were cancelled due to inclement weather. The Helias boys’ soccer teams won the Round Robin, winning both games. At the end of the tournament Assistant Coach Shannon Grable said, “It’s still the beginning, and we still have tons to work on. We have lots of potential, and I know we can get there.”
Just like Coach Grable said, it’s still the beginning. There are many weeks before the soccer season comes to a close. Support your fellow students as they battle to win districts and much more.
