Helias' Homecoming Parade 2007
By Ashley Vaught
This year’s parade consisted of many floats, creatively made by the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Each float had a theme for that grade: freshmen were summer, sophomores were spring, juniors were fall, and the seniors were winter.
The freshmen float had a palm tree, an ocean wave and hammock, and let’s not forget the small bulldog.
The sophomore float had an Easter egg with a "Crusader football player" jumping out of it. There also was a set of field goal posts at the ends of the float. Sitting near the bottom of the Easter egg, was a bulldog.
The juniors decorated their float with Halloween decorations, including a tombstone with "the Bulldogs" and the date that they "died" written on it.
The seniors had their float as "The Grinch" with a movable Grinch arm. The Grinch was on top of the mountain above "Whoville," as seen in the movie.
All the grades' floats were made out of cardboard, chicken wire, tissue paper, etc., and had a lot of time and effort put into making and designing them. Among these four floats were football, volleyball, and tennis teams’ floats, with all the players on their team's float. Also, there were coaches and CBB and her candy. Plus, the Homecoming Court rode in the convertibles.
I want to give special congratulations to the person who put the whole parade together, Sophomore Ashlee Hoffman!!! Great job, Ashlee!
