Spotlight Athletes

Female Spotlight Athlete for December: Olivia Hackmann
If you have been to any of the basketball games, chances are you've heard the chant, "She's our freshman," as number 14 made a good play. "Our freshman" is Olivia Hackmann. She says that it is exciting just to have the chance to play varsity now, and credits Coach Leslie Verslues with making it as easy a transition as it has been. Not only does she stand out on the court but she is also a good student who says her favorite class is Earth Science with Mr. Baer. When I asked what drove her to work so hard to make herself better, she said it was her love of the game. Her career is off to a good start, and we are lucky to have the chance to cheer her on for the next four years.
Male Spotlight Athlete of the Month: Cody Lisenbardt
The wrestling season has just started, but one of the standouts so far is junior Cody Lisenbardt. Cody is wrestling the 125-pound slot. He says his personal goal this season is a top-five finish at state. Wrestling is known for its requirement of hard work, and what drives Cody is that he does not want to let his teammates down by not being at his best. His favorite class is Sculpture with Mr. Friggle, and he also is a member of the golf team.
