It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

By Simon Charles

Everyone knows that Christmas is that special time of year to get together with loved ones and celebrate the holiday season. I interviewed some members of Helias High School about what Christmas means to them, and they had plenty to say.

Claire Chen said that Christmas is her favorite holiday because it helps her reflect on how thankful she is for what she has. She said her favorite part of Christmas is wrapping up in a warm blanket, drinking hot cocoa, and watching an old Christmas classic. She loves waiting to greet relatives when they arrive for the holidays.

For Mr. Baer, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of our Savior and also a time for family. He enjoys the whole winter season in general; to him it is a time of giving and treasuring the ones around you.

Christmas puts Mr. Plank in a happy and peaceful mood. When asked what he wanted for Christmas he said, “I want to spend quality time with my daughter Sophia.” He loves celebrating with his family and friends but he does not forget that Christmas is about Christ’s entrance into the world.

I asked all three of them if they think Christmas brings out the good in people. Claire was eager to say that she definitely thinks it is a time of joy and giving and that around this time of year she often senses love and compassion in the air. Mr. Baer stated that the Christmas season makes people want to help others out more, especially those less fortunate. As for Mr. Plank, he said that it is a generally positive season.

As you can tell from the detailed responses from these members of the Helias High School community, Christmas really is a time of happiness and cheer.
